Two more releases from the Romero catalogue are now up on Bandcamp for easier access: ‘The Mango Balloon: Volume 2’, featuring Brian Campeau, and The Tango Saloon ‘In Black And White’ featuring Elana Stone. Enjoy!
A little over 3 months since the launch of The Mango Balloon: Volume 4 (which doubled as Romero Records’ 5th birthday) – finally the dust has settled from this momentous occasion, and on re-visiting we can confirm that this really is a wonderful album! All the musicians did an amazing job, with special mention going to guest keyboardist Matt McMahon.
Update: the album has received a great review from John Shand in The Sydney Morning Herald – read it here.
To celebrate 5 years running as a label, Romero Records is very happy to make our first 3 releases available for download on Bandcamp. Including the genre-bending ‘Brainwashing For Dirty Minds’ by Darth Vegas, and two of The Tango Saloon’s explorations into the darkness, ‘Shadows & Fog’ and ‘Transylvania’, 5 years on we are still incredibly excited by this music!
That’s right, Romero Records released our first two albums in 2012, on April Fools Day appropriately enough. We’re having a little party to celebrate 5 years, including a launch for The Mango Balloon’s fourth album (featuring keyboardist extraordinaire Matt McMahon) as well as two acts we are hoping to release in the very near future: surf rockers La Tarantella, and Micky Stu’s Magical Polymba Experience (aka Mick Stuart).
April 20th at Lazybones Lounge in Marrickville, join the party!
The Cannibal Spiders debut album is available for pre-order now. As an added bonus, all Bandcamp purchases today contribute to the American Civil Liberties Union, i.e. supporting basic human values and hopefully slowing down the destructive behaviours of the US government. Album released February 17.
Very happy to announce that Cannibal Spiders will be doing their first ever performance in a couple of weeks, supporting the great Sex On Toast from Melbourne. For those that have been living under a rock, Cannibal Spiders is the brand new surf/punk powerhouse of Brian Campeau, Abel Cross, Julian Curwin and Danny Heifetz. More info on the gig here.
The debut album from Cannibal Spiders will be released early 2017.
